About

Hello, Im Angie, 'The Stitching Genie'

I work from a purpose-built studio in Mattishall, which enables me to offer a private and peaceful environment with full changing facilities to tailor your clothes for the perfect fit.

I love undertaking all types of alterations and repairs including cuffs, hems, zips, waist reductions, curtains,. Prom Dresses, Wedding Dresses & Bridesmaid Dresses. Ive even made a roof lining for a classic car and a retractable gazebo cover!. I love my work and im always looking for a new challenge! Go to my alterations page for more info.

Along with Alterations & Repairs, I also offer a range of sewing classes & sessions from beginner to intermediate levels. Craft sewing, bags, overlocker classes and beginner & intermediate dress making. I offer children's lessons from 9+ (parent/guardian will need to be present for lessons) all classes are 1:1 or groups if you book with friends. I offer seasonal group workshops too.
All of my classes are held in the studio which is fully equipped with all the tools equipment and machines you'll need. There are no interruptions and the time you book is purely lesson time for you. (and there is always a brew!)

I can offer a range of classes or you can have a tailor-made plan to suit your skill level or a particular item you'd like to make.

An entry-level course designed to guide you through the basics and give you confidence.

Exciting sessions tailored to your individual needs. If you're a bag maker or craft sewist, I have lots of great patterns we can work through; and many of the items are on display in the studio to choose from.
If you are dress maker, I can show you tools and techniques to help improve your confidence.

Want to learn how to use an overlocker? Great, you've come to the right place!
You do not need to own one either, as I have one here to teach on. I will show you how to thread up, correct dial settings, correct tension along with other useful tips and we will make an item too!

I offer children's lessons from 9years+ (parent/guardian will need to be present for lessons). I offer a one off taster session to see if they enjoy the experience or a full 4 x 2 hour beginner course. Its great to see young children taking up such a rewarding hobby!

If you want to learn how to embroider but have no idea where to start, then you’re in the right place. With just a few supplies and some basic stitches, you’ll be creating beautiful works of art in no time.
I will teach you the basic stitches and supply you with all the tools that you will need.

Fundraising
One of my passions is getting involved in charity events and helping to fundraise for the N&N Hospital. I have been co-ordinating Items for NICU (neonatal Intensive care unit), Heydon & Buxton Wards for over 2 years now and hope to continue for many years to come.

Im also a drop off point for TWAM (tools with a mission) Do you have an unwanted sewing machine or a broken machine that you want to donate to a good cause?
The Stitching Genie is now a collection point for TWAM.
There's a wealth of information on my fundraising page, so I invite you to check it out and see how you can join me in making a difference!

Testimonials

Angela collected two pairs of lined curtains from me, took them up, pressed them, and returned them the next day. They look fabulous and are so much easier to use now that they’re the right length. I wouldn’t hesitate to use her services again and highly recommend her business.
